Do you like the idea of a credit card that actually rewards you with cash back on certain purchases and doesn’t charge an annual fee?
If the answer is yes, then you might be interested in the Chase Freedom Flex Card.
Who Is The Chase Freedom Flex Credit Card Good For?
The Chase freedom Flex card is a perfect card for beginners or anybody interested in a cash-back style credit card.
It is relatively easy to get approved for this card and best of all it has no annual fee.
It also presents some pretty decent benefits that you can use to your advantage.
APR
As for the APR on this card, it has an intro APR of 0% for the first 15 months, and after this, it is a variable APR of 14.99% – 23.74%.
Sign-up Bonus
So starting with the sign-up bonus of this card, you can earn a $200 bonus after you spend $500 on purchases within the first 3 months of card ownership.
So in terms of a sign-up bonus, I think this is good value and not too hard to achieve.
Earning Cash Back
There are quite a few different ways you can earn cash back with the Chase Freedom Flex Credit Card.
The first is a 5% cash back for grocery store purchases up to a total of $12,000 in the first year, and if you are able to spend the full amount it is worth up to $600. (And just note that this does not include purchases from Walmart or Target).
And another thing to take note of is that it is not available to you if you currently have this card or if you have received a new card member bonus for this card within the past 24 months.
Next up you will receive 5% cash back on all travel purchases that are made through Chase Ultimate Rewards.
You will get 3% cash back on dining at restaurants, including eligible delivery services and takeout.

Now when it comes to the perks and user benefits of this card, there are a few different things that you will get.
To begin with, you will receive a 3-month subscription to DoorDash’s subscription service which is called DashPass, and this gives you a $0 delivery fee on all orders that are over $12.
After the 3 months is up you will automatically be enrolled in DashPass for the following 9 months at a 50% discounted rate, which turns out to be $4.99 per month.
You will also receive 5% cashback on all Lyft Rides through March 2022, which is great if you actually use their service.
Along with these perks, you will also receive Mastercard World Elite Benefits which offer the following perks.
If you take 3 rides with Lyft per month and pay with the card you will earn a $5 Lyft credit.
When you send $20 at Fandango or on Fandango’s streaming service you will receive a $5 Fandango reward.
You will earn 5% back when you get a HelloFresh meal kit delivery, and this saving can be used on the next HelloFresh order you make.
And finally, you will get a complimentary 1-year ShopRunner membership that gives you free 2 days shipping and free returns from over 100 stores in the United States.
Insurance-Related Benefits
Now even though this card is free on an annual basis, it still offers some decent insurance-related benefits.
To begin with, you will revise purchase protection that covers new purchases for up to 120 days in the event of theft or damage, and it covers up to $500 per claim and $50,000 per account.
You will also receive extended warranty protection that provides you with an extra year of warranty on eligible US manufacturers warranties that are 3 years or less.
There is cell phone protection that covers up to $800 per claim and $1000 per year in the event of theft or damage to any phones that are listed on your phone bill, and that are paid for with the card.
You will receive a maximum of 2 claims per 12 month period with each claim incurring a $50 deductible.
Next up you will receive trip Cancellation/Interruption Insurance which covers up to $1,500 per person and $6,000 per trip if the trip happens to be canceled or cut short due to sickness, severe weather, or any other covered situation, and for this to be valid you must have prepaid a non-refundable passenger fare with your card.
Another great benefit is the auto rental collision damage waiver.
And to use this, all you need to do is decline the rental company’s collision insurance, and then pay for the entire trip with your card.
And finally, you are covered by Zero Liability Protection, which basically means that if there are any unauthorized purchases made on your card, you won’t be held responsible.
Final Thoughts Of The Chase Freedom Flex
So what are my overall thoughts about the Chase Freedom Flex credit card?
For me this is an easy choice, I think it is a fantastic card and definitely worth considering if you don’t already have it.
As long as you pay off your credit card on time and use this card on most purchases, you will receive some pretty decent cash back rewards, and it won’t cost you anything.
You also receive a few nice perks such as the 5% back on Lyft rides and a $5 credit on Lyft if you take 3 or more rides in a given month.
And finally, you receive some pretty decent insurance-related benefits such as purchase protection, cell phone protection, trip cancellation, and the auto rental collision damage waiver.
The only thing that I’m not a fan of is that there is a 3% foreign transaction fee if you use the card when traveling.
