Earning an extra $100 a day may not sound like a lot, but if you know how to look after your money it can actually make a big difference to your savings over time.
$100 a day is $700 a week or $2,800 a month.
But just to give you an example of how much you can save over time, if you were to start today with just $50, and were to continually invest $50 a day into an interest savings account that returns 5% per year.
The first year you would have $18,052.52.
Over 10 years this money will be worth $226,483.51. (with $46,433.51 earned in interest).
Then after 20 years is where it starts to get interesting, this money will be worth $595,319.84 (with $235,269.84 earned in interest!).
So this just goes to show you that time and compound interest can make a massive difference to your savings.
But let’s get back to the topic at hand which is how you can actually start to make $100 a day.
1. Focus Groups
So the first way to make money on this list is by participating in Focus Groups, and these can be found through specific websites such as Respondent, Fieldwork, and Google User Experience Research.
All of which I have left a link to in the description below.
To put it simply, different companies quite often look for qualified professionals in a variety of different areas, or even just every day people to participate in specific research studies that they create to gain more information and feedback about whatever it is they want to know.
These research studies can be as short as 5 minutes or as long as a few hours.
They are also hosted in multiple different ways, you can quite often complete a study remotely on your laptop with no direct contact with anybody, which is useful at the moment.
Or you may be required to talk one on one via telephone or even meet up at a specified location to complete a study.
Now whilst this is not exactly a constant way to make money, it is still worth thinking about as it’s generally a pretty easy way to earn money, and it doesn’t usually require too much effort.
It’s not uncommon to find projects that will pay up to $300 for 60 mins of your time (but this is usually only for professionals from specific industries that have experience).
But as you can see here on Respondent (which is a service that I have used for a while), there are quite a lot of projects that are offering $100 or more, and on Fieldwork, there are also plenty of projects that pay quite a bit more than this.
To get started, the first thing you will need to do is sign-up for a few different Focus Group websites like the ones I have mentioned in this article, and this is important as it will increase your odds of getting accepted for more paid studies.
Next up you will need to apply for relevant studies that you think might be a good fit for you.
And then you will usually be required to complete a short survey so that the company that is looking for feedback can see if you will be a suitable fit.
Now another way you can make money from Focus groups is by referring them to other people!
As you can see in the picture above, Respondent will pay you $20 if you refer someone to their platform that earns $75 in total incentive. (And this is called affiliate marketing, which is something that I will cover in another article).
2. Flipping Free Items
The next way to earn money on this list is by finding free products on websites like Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace, and then cleaning them up and flipping them for a profit.
And there a quite a few places where you can sell the items such as eBay or back on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace.
Now to find these items, there is a section on Craigslist where you can literally get things for free, usually, you will have to go and pick up the item, but that’s fair enough seeing as they are free!
To find free products on Craigslist, just go to the homepage for the location you live, and then go to where it says ‘For Sale’ and you will see where it says ‘Free’, click here and you will see that there are usually quite a lot of free things available.
Now it’s worth doing a bit of research first into what items you find and if it’s worth trying to flip them.
Make sure it is possible to make a reasonable amount of money for the time and effort that you put into sourcing each item.
3. YouTube
The next way to start earning money on this list is by making YouTube Videos.
And this has the potential to make you a lot of money if you put in the time and effort.
But it is worth noting that it can take a fair amount of time before you start to earn a notable amount of money.
Initially, you will need to accrue 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time before you can monetize your account.
What I like about YouTube is that you can create content on just about anything the interests you as long as it follows YouTube’s Community Guidelines.
And eventually, you can turn it into a proper business that has the potential to earn you a decent income.
And one of the most common ways to get paid by Youtube is through Google Adsense.
Now there can be quite a big difference in how much you make on YouTube depending on what niche you choose to focus on.
Content that focuses on Personal Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate usually pays quite well as it has a high CPM,
whereas general topics like daily blogs don’t usually pay quite as much as they have a lower CPM.
And if you just look at some of the top-earning YouTubers, you will see that they earn a huge amount of money, as you can see here, some people are earning millions of dollars.
Now obviously, this is not what most people make on YouTube, but even just a small fraction of these earnings is still a reasonable amount of money.
So beyond just earning money from Google Adsense, you can include affiliate links to products that you like or review.
Or you can create merch to sell to your audience and once you have built a reasonably sized audience in terms of subscribers, it is possible to start earning money from sponsored ads, which can sometimes pay quite a lot.
4. Selling Products On Ebay (Drop-shipping or Personal Items)
Another way to make relatively easy money is by selling products on eBay by either drop-shipping or selling items from around your home that you don’t use anymore.
I’ve personally been drop-shipping items through eBay for quite a few years now and it requires very little input once you have set up a store with a few different products.
Although I don’t earn a ton of money from this income source, it only requires a few hours of work each month.
And to be fair I haven’t really changed what I do on eBay since I first started selling there, so there is always room to earn more money if you put the effort in.
In terms of finding products to sell there are quite a lot of dropshipping suppliers out there.
Some websites include:
AliExpress, Alibaba and Salehoo.
And if you are not interested in drop-shipping, why not look around your apartment or house for things that you don’t use anymore and try to sell them on eBay.
Or even better head out to a few garage sales or second-hand stores and see if you can pick up some items that don’t cost a lot, and then flip them for a profit.
5. E-commerce (Online-Store)
The next way you can earn an extra bit of cash is by creating an online store.
And with this method, you have so many different options.
You can create your own digital products, sell physical products, or even drop-ship different items, which if done correctly can be very profitable.
I started an online store a few years ago and it continues to make me a small amount of money each month which is nice, and again once it’s set up, it’s not too much work to keep it ticking over.
As you can see here in the picture above, although I don’t make a ton of money, it’s still nice to have a bit of cash coming in each month.
And there are plenty of different options when it comes to setting up an online store.
I use both Wix.com and WordPress.org for my websites, and then I use Bluehost for my website hosting.
6. Make Money With Your Car
The last way you can make money on this list is by using your car, and I’ve found a couple of options to choose from that don’t require too must effort
The first way is by advertising with a company called Carvertise, and this option is pretty straight forward, basically what happens is that Carvertise will wrap your car with advertisements from a specific business and then pay you after you have met all of the requirements of the campaign that they set.
And payment can range anywhere from $350 to $1,500, all depending on how much you drive and how long the campaign is.
And I think is pretty good considering you don’t really need to do much once the car is wrapped.
Now it is worth noting that your car will need to be at least a 2008 model or newer, and during a campaign, you are usually required to drive at least 30 miles per day, which is a fair amount and might not be suitable for everybody, but if you do travel a lot each day then it shouldn’t be a problem.
There is also the option of getting paid more for parking in higher traffic areas.
Now the second way to make money with your car is by using Turo.
And if you don’t know what Turo is, basically it’s a website where you can rent out your car to other people and make a reasonable amount of money by doing so.
Turo also gives you the ability to choose what you earn, basically, you can choose a variety of options from between 60% to 90% of the trip price.
With the 60 plan, you will receive 60% of the trip price, which is not too bad considering that you will have no deductible to pay and either loss of hosting income or a $50 a day replacement vehicle.
If you choose the 90 plan you will earn 90% of the trip price, which is really good! But it does come with some risks, you will have a deductible of $2,500 if there is an accident, and Turo will not provide a replacement vehicle or loss of hosting income during the repair of the car.
Either way, Turo provides a good platform to earn extra money every day if you have a car, and the ability to even start a business if you are interested.
Turo also estimates that you can earn up to $7,000 a year from a vehicle that is worth about $12,520, which is really good!
Turo also has a great tool called the ‘Carculator’ which gives you an estimate of how much you can expect to earn from a wide variety of different cars from all over the US.
