Are you interested in a credit card that actually rewards you for staying fit?
The Paceline Visa Signature credit card now gives you the opportunity to earn up to 5% cash back on certain purchases if you can maintain at least 150 minutes of exercise each week, whether that be walking, running, yoga, or riding a bike.
You will also be able to earn a free Apple Watch if you can maintain your fitness regime throughout the year.
In this article, I’m going to review the Paceline Visa Signature credit card and give you my opinion on whether I think it is worth the $60 Annual membership fee.

Who Is Paceline?

So first of all, who is Paceline?
Paceline is a startup that already has more than 500,000 users on its Paceline app, which so far has redeemed over $4 million in rewards.
Joel Lieginger (lee ginger) the CEO of Paceline has said that:
“Your health is your most valuable asset, and you should be rewarded for pursuing it,” “Paceline empowers people to turn their physical health into an asset and ultimately enables people to get rewarded for living healthier, better, and longer lives. The Paceline Card delivers on that promise and reinforces our mission to change the nature of preventive health in society.”

Who Is The Paceline Visa Signature Credit Card Good For?

As I am a strong advocate for fitness and wellness I think this card is good for pretty much everybody as I think it’s beneficial to try and stay fit and healthy.
But It will be specifically suitable for people who tend to exercise quite often as it will make it quite easy to reach the weekly goal of 150 minutes of exercise, which works out to just over 21 minutes of exercise each day.

Now to keep track of your exercise you will first need to download the Paceline app and then connected it to a wearable device such as an Apple Watch, Fitbit, or Garmin watch.
And then from here, the app will monitor your movements throughout the day, and according to their website walking is an acceptable form of exercise that will go towards your 150 minutes each week.
So if you live in a city like NY it should be relatively easy to reach 21 minutes of walking each day.

Annual Membership Fee

Now the Paceline Visa Signature credit card has an annual fee of $60, which is not too bad.
And as an example, to cover the cost of the annual fee by assuming you get an average of 3% cash back, you would need to spend $2,000 to get $60 back, which in all honesty is not that bad
So, if you make use of all of the benefits that come with cards, such as the elevated cash back rewards and an Apple Watch reimbursement credit of up to $429, it can easily cover the cost of the annual fee.

Earning Cash Back

Now when it comes to earning the most cash back available with this card you will literally have to exercise to get it.
If you meet the 150 minutes of exercise per week through the Paceline app you will essentially double your cash back earnings.

So if you don’t meet to required exercise limit each week, you will earn 2.5% cash back on health and wellness purchases and if you do meet the 150-minute requirement it will double to 5% cash back.
And when it comes to earning the 2.5% or 5%  cash back there is quite a broad range of options to choose from which include:
*Grocery purchases that are made from stores like Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods.
*Most gym memberships or fitness classes that include Yoga and Pilates.
*Fitness equipment will also receive up to 5% cash back and can include purchases made from stores like Peleton, and as an example, the cheapest bike on their site is currently $1,495, which if you got 5% cash back could save you $74.75, which is not too bad.
*Fitness apparel is also included from brands like Nike, Reebok, Adidas, and Lululemon.
You will get 5% cash back when you buy sporting goods from companies that include Dick’s Sporting Goods, Big 5, and most other sporting-related companies.
Finally, purchases that are made at pharmacies and drug stores will also receive either 2.5% or 5% cash back.

And then all other purchases will receive either 1.5% cash back or 3% cash back depending on your exercises status.
So it’s possible to earn quite a reasonable amount of cash back if you stay relatively active.

Benefits and User Perks

So first of all you can actually earn a free Apple Watch Series 7 up to a total value of $429.
Basically how it works is quite simple, as long as you maintain a minimum of 150 minutes of exercise each week for the entire year, you will receive weekly statement credits of $8.25.
If you don’t meet the 150 minutes, you will forgo the statement credit for that week.

Now along with the 150 minutes of exercise each week you will also have to have paid for the Apple Watch with your card, spend at least $500 per statement cycle and keep your account in good standing.
So if you can maintain a relatively consistent workout schedule and spend a minimum of $500 each statement cycle, you should have no problems receiving the statement credit.

And as this is a Visa Signature card you will also receive a few benefits that include:

  • Zero Liability Policy
  • Roadside Dispatch
  • Lost or Stolen Card Reporting
  • Travel and Emergency Assistance Services
  • Cardholder Inquiry Services
  • Emergency Card Replacement
  • Emergency Cash Disbursement

Finally thoughts

So what are my overall thoughts about the Paceline Visa Signature credit card?
I do like the fact that you can earn double the cash back just by staying fit, and best of all, it only requires just over 21 minutes a day to receive the increased points earnings.
I also think the daily credit that can go towards an Apple Watch is a nice touch.

Now although the annual fee of the card isn’t really that much it could prove to be a dealbreaker for some people as there are other back cards on the market with similar perks that don’t have an annual fee.

So I’d be interested to know what you think of this new card from Paceline and if you would consider getting it?
Now if this card Paceline doesn’t interest you there are a couple of other really good cash back credit cards such as the Chase Freedom Flex Card or the Citi Custom Cash card that both offer up to 5% cash back, don’t have an annual fee and have a sign-up bonus of $200.
And if you would like to learn more about both of these cards, why not check out my review here where I compare the two cards.
